terms of service

Effective: May 2026 · By using dawdle you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. who can use dawdle

• you must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK)
• if you're using dawdle on behalf of a company or band, the person creating the account confirms they have the authority to bind that entity
• we may refuse service to anyone for any reason consistent with applicable law

2. your account

• you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secret
• one person, one account. duplicate accounts may be suspended
• you're responsible for everything that happens under your account

3. acceptable use

Don't use dawdle to:

• harass, threaten, dox, or impersonate another person
• post sexually explicit content involving minors, or any content that's illegal where you live or where the recipient lives
• upload malware, exploit code, or anything designed to disrupt the service or other users' devices
• scrape, mass-export, or automate the service in ways that abuse our infrastructure
• circumvent rate limits, blocks, or bans imposed on you
• misrepresent yourself as a verified artist when you're not the actual rights-holder of the claimed Spotify profile

4. content you upload

• you keep ownership of everything you upload (samples, messages, profile sound, art)
• you grant dawdle a non-exclusive license to host, transmit, and display your content as needed to run the service
• you confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, including any samples derived from third-party material
• we may remove content that we believe violates these terms or applicable law

5. spotify artist claims

• "claiming" an artist on dawdle is an assertion that you are the artist or are authorized to represent them. False claims violate these terms
• verification (the green check) requires cross-verification on a connected social platform. We may revoke verification at any time if we suspect fraud
• spotify, instagram, twitter, and the other platforms we integrate with are not affiliated with dawdle and do not endorse it

6. paid plans

• some features require a paid plan. Pricing is shown in the app at sign-up time
• plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time; service continues through the end of the paid period
• refunds are at our discretion outside of legally-required cases

7. plugin license

• the dawdle desktop plugin is licensed for personal use by the account holder
• you may not redistribute, decompile, or reverse-engineer the plugin (subject to mandatory exceptions in your jurisdiction)
• the plugin may auto-update to apply security or compatibility fixes

8. termination

• you can delete your account at any time from settings
• we can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity
• upon termination, your data is deleted as described in our privacy policy

9. disclaimers

dawdle is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content is accurate. Use it at your own risk while we're in beta.

10. limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, dawdle and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months and (b) US$50.

11. indemnity

You agree to indemnify dawdle against claims arising from content you upload or your violation of these terms.

12. governing law

Once dawdle's operating entity is formed, this section will state the governing jurisdiction. Until then, disputes will be handled under the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

13. changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
